Two years ago today, we saw Lydia for the first time. I remember it like it was yesterday. I can't believe that it has been 2 years. Time flies. We can't imagine our life without her.

Reflections on Summer 2010 (part 1)

Wow! The Summer of 2010 is almost over. Can't believe it. Here in Louisville, it has been the hottest Summer since the 1930's! I was hoping to do so much more this Summer, but it was just way too hot. We stayed indoors quite a bit. Needless to say, we are looking forward to Fall.

During the Summer, we tried potty training Lydia. And...she is just not ready yet. I find myself trying to push her to be ready..but really nothing is working. So, I am resolved for her to let me know when she is ready. :) It just isn't fruitful for both of us to be stressed about it!

We moved into our home in late May and it has been wonderful. Did I say wonderful? We love being so close to everything. Especially Church. We can be more involved and actually go to the services that they have during the week. Hubby is happy too..not having to drive so far to get to work. Which makes me happy that he gets home so much earlier than he used to. We are so grateful for our home..we have a lot of work to get done still..but hey..Lord willing..we have 30+years, right???

Lydia is growing and I think we will be the same height next year..either that..or we will be sharing shoes. I can't keep up with her. She is healthy and strong. We are so thankful.

As we approach the end of this Summer, we are sending in our application for our second adoption. Hard to believe. We are praying for a little baby boy from Ethiopia. Please join us in prayer as we start this process again. We are taking things a bit slower this time around. Lydia is very excited about being a big sister. First she thought that she was going to be the Mommy..but we explained it to her. :)

Well, I hope all is good and well in your part of the world. This is a part one of a couple of Summer reflections. Since it has been forever since my last post. :)

I seriously think that Lydia is growing overnight. She is just getting so big...learning...talking up a storm....getting very independent....and loving life. It's going so fast. I feel like she will be a teenager before we know it.

She couldn't wait to put it on this morning--knowing that it was a special dress that we bought for her birthday. She picked it out and it was on sale (good girl Lydia!!). We have had a special week. We have had two picnics, went to two different parks, she got to play with some old friends, and we shopped for her birthday presents.
Today, we picked out a small birthday cake, and tonight we will celebrate as a family of 3.
I am going to make a special lasagna dish for her, then we will open presents and eat cake (with vanilla ice cream). She is so excited. We don't eat sweets so this is extra special.
Well, our special China girl, we love you and we hope you have a very special 3rd birthday.

A Perfect Day

When we were having our picnic at the park, Lydia kept on pointing and saying, "Look Mommy, a Cross." I looked and looked and finally...there it was. It was a tree branch in the shape of a Cross. How awesome is that?

What a wonderful day! Lydia and I decided that we were going to take a break from packing and enjoy the beautiful weather. We went to the Louisville Nature Center (and we got to see a wonderful friend from Church), Joe Creason Park and had a lovely picnic. We enjoyed seeing God's beautiful creation! There is nothing else I can say. What an awesome day.

What an amazing Holy Week. The services that led up to Pascha was just..just...I am speechless. The icing on the cake was the Pascha service late Saturday night early Sunday morning. Words cannot describe the joy that we feel in our hearts for Christ. I can't wait for next year!

Well, good news. We have sold our home and have put a contract on another home. Very excited. Glory to God in all things. Glory to God.

Lydia's birthday is next week and I can't believe she will be 3 years old. She has been singing Happy Birthday Lydia for the past month. So cute. After we move into our home, potty training will be first on the list. I think she is ready. I think she is excited about it too. We have been talking about it forever, so hopefully it will be quick and easy (as I hold my breath!).

I hope that all my blog friends are well. Take care and enjoy this season of Spring!

Hello friends in cyberspace. Hope all is well in your world. Sorry I haven't posted anything on here in a while. Life has been super busy. Lydia has been super sick with an upper respiratory infection and let me tell you, this is the sickest I have EVER seen her. Poor thing. Constant runny nose and a constant barking cough (with no sleep--Lydia or me) doesn't make for a happy 2 1/2 year old. Of course we are a family that likes to share...so we are all taking turns getting sick. Bleck...

Then we have the selling of our home. It has been on the market for almost 5 months. We have lowered our price and it is just a hard market. We currently have an offer on our home that we are trying to work out...trying..trying..and more trying. We have found several houses that we like and are thinking....such a hard time to sell or to buy..truly.

I know that all things work together for our good....so I continue to trust in the Lord. Sometimes that is hard too. Do I sound defeated or what??? Yea, a bit discouraged..but I look to my Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ for comfort and wisdom. He is my source of strength.

I will leave you with Lydia's latest video. She is such a joy. I love her dearly...and I am so grateful that she is with us. We are the 3 Musketeers! Peace to you all.

Dinner with the Copelands

For the first time since they have been married (which was August 2009)--Christina and Jeff came over to our home!

Christina and I used to work together and I miss our friendship greatly. She was always a great support throughout our adoption process and she was there when I got the "call"..! I was grateful to have them over for dinner and to hang out with us.

I made homemade pasta with Puttenesca Sauce, Italian Sausage with Fresh Veggies. It was yummy, if I may say so myself! :)

Lydia loves Christina and Jeff. She calls Christina "Nina" and its so cute. Lydia was anxious to have them come to her room. She didn't waste anytime..she put two seats out--one for Jeff and one for Lydia. She really wanted Jeff to read her a book..so we got out "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed"..she likes that one a lot.

We had a wonderful time...totally should hang out more often!

We wish the best of things to come for the Copelands. We love you!

Please pray for the people of Haiti

Parenting...whew..the most challenging thing I have EVER done. Having a 2 1/2 year old is awesome. What a great time of her life. Learning, growing..and I mean growing! Lydia is such a wonderful blessing...we can't imagine life without her. What does that have to do with the title of my post....everything!

Before her nap time (and nigh-nigh bedtime) we pray. During those prayer times we pray for others. Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, I have been trying to teach Lydia why we pray for them. Yea, like I had "nothing" else to do... :)

Well, she saw a lady crying on TV from Haiti (I have been a bit leery of having her watch any of the coverage because it has been pretty graphic) and she said, "Mama, girl boo-boo. Boo-boo on knee." Then she started rocking her arms side to side (like she had a baby in her arms) to comfort her. I asked her, "Is that how you would comfort the lady?" She replied, "Ah-huh." I then began to explain to her that the lady had a big boo-boo on her head and that we need to pray for the people of Haiti. I told her that lots of people have boo-boo's and they need God's help.

So, now, every time we pray, we pray for the boo-boo'd people of Haiti.

I know that there is HOPE in Christ...and I am glad that my daughter knows that too. That nothing is too difficult for Him. Oh, the faith of a child...how I need that myself.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti...please help in anyway you can...God bless.

Fun in the snow!

Lydia and I went outside today for the first time since it has snowed. It has been too cold to go outside prior to today, so we played for about 45 minutes to an hour. It was so much fun. Lydia loved playing in the snow. Last year (which she had only been home with us for a month or two) she was terrified of the snow. This year...we went out and it was such a different story. She loved the way it felt on her hands when she would go to touch it without her gloves on. She would marvel at the fact that it would melt when it touched her hands.

We also took a good look at individual snowflakes. Ever done that? Seriously cool stuff. Beautiful. God is truly amazing.

Lydia couldn't wait to play with the football in the snow. That is my girl!! We also ran around the entire yard and threw snowballs at eachother. Lydia thought that was hilarious. She also went down her little slide into the snow...she would do that over and over again.

It is so awesome to see her grow and learn new things. She looks at things so intently.

All in all...we had an awesome day. Hopefully we will get more snow. I would really love to make a snowman with her...that would be too cool. She LOVES Frosty the Snowman!

Lydia loved putting the ornaments on the tree, helping us take them out of the boxes, and holding the next ornament to put on the tree...she had a ball. During the decorating of the tree.....Lydia came to me clapping and saying "Yea Mama!" and I turned around and all the ornaments I gave her were on the same branch! Too cute!

What a great weekend.

First visit with Santa Claus

Lydia got to visit Santa for the first time this year. The girl before her was balling her eyes out so I was concerned that Lydia was going to lose it when it came her time. I distracted Lydia with my camera and had her take pictures. It worked..she didn't even notice the the girl before her having a meltdown. :)

When it was her time to come and sit on Santa's lap, she ran and gave him a big hug. It was precious. It was such a great day....grateful for these wonderful blessings.

We woke up on Monday, December 7th, with a thin blanket of snow on the ground. Our first snow this year. When Lydia got up, she was so excited, much different reaction from last year when it snowed. Last year she was terrified of it. Grant it, it was only a month or so since we had been home from China, so all this stuff was so new. In her part of the country of China it was warm all year round so this white, cold, and even painful to the touch, stuff on the ground was pretty scary.

John and I are so blessed to have Lydia. We are reminded every day how special she is. She is such a good girl. I love it when she says, "Thank you Mama" or "I love you too Mama!" She is just speaking so well (and people are understanding her!) and growing and learning so much. She is such a big helper. She loves to help. No, you really don't understand. This girl will get upset if you don't allow her to help you. She will say, "Lydia help please Mama."

I just love her. I look forward to the day when she will have a sibling. I think she would do so well. We want to adopt again..but are praying for the right time (and the right place) to do so.

As we are in the Advent Season, we have been talking a lot about Christ and His Birth. She will sing "Happy Birthday Jesus" when we talk about it. It is so sweet. She loves Jesus..she carries her Cross around (a Russian Orthodox Cross that we bought her as a Chrismation gift) and kisses it. Last Sunday we were confirmed into the Orthodox Church and during the ceremony (which was glorious) they anoint you with oil (on your forehead, your ears, your hands, feet, etc.) When the Priest (Father George) was done, she would look up at him and say "thank you" and he would smile...
I am amazed at her understanding of Christianity. She teaches me so much.

Oh, God please help our unbelief.

All this to say, we are utterly blessed.

We recently had our LAST Post Placement visit required by China. Wow! It was such an encouraging visit. We can't believe it has been almost a year since we first held Lydia. What an amazing year it has been. Lydia has grown leaps and bounds. She is currently just shy over 3 feet tall, wearing a size 8 shoe (!!) and her developmental (both motor and language) skills are just blooming. Lydia is turning into such a sweet young lady. She is very nurturing. She is just SO perfect for our family.

One year ago today, we received our referral of Zhu Li Ying (Chinese name). Now Lydia Zhu Li Super. I can't believe that it has been a year since we first laid our eyes on her. I can remember like it was yesterday. So much has happened since that day. It's kinda like a blur. Then 8 weeks later, we traveled to meet her. Wow!

She has changed so much...God has been so merciful and gracious to us.

It's been a long time....

I apologize that is has been a long time since my last blog post. With the passing of my mother, changes in our lives, and now John's grandmother's health is declining..things have been a bit difficult. We have seen God move in our lives in amazing ways and we are grateful for His mercy throughout it all.

Recently, I wanted to upload some pictures to our blog of Lydia and was not able to do so. I am not sure if it is our USB cord, our camera, or our computer. Whatever it is..I can't figure it out. So....be patient..we will (Lord willing) updated pictures to share of our precious little one.

Brief update on Lydia..she is doing wonderful. She is growing, learning, and talking so much more now. Our attachment issues are, I believe, not an issue anymore. Praise the Lord. She is eating well, loving life, and experiencing new things everyday. At church a couple of weeks ago, she was admitted to the Table. What a joyous day that was. She loves Jesus..and she will tell you so.

She is not using "baby signs" much anymore..since now she knows how to say those words. She is also answering our questions..which is just wonderful. Sometimes, we are not sure what she is saying..but she will try to repeat herself..like we didn't hear her or something. Too cute.

She still isn't potty trained yet. We are hoping she will be interested soon. I think I scared her with my excitement last time we tried. So maybe we will try again soon. We would like to get a break on buying diapers for a bit!

She is such a happy girl and has a wonderful sense of humor. She is just hilarious. We love her and are so glad that she is with us. This week we came upon 9 months of having her in our family....9 months! Time goes by so quickly..we don't want to miss a thing!

As far as we are concerned..we are heavily thinking about a second adoption..we would love to adopted a boy from South Korea..we continue to pray about this. I think Lydia would do well with a little one around. She is such a great helper.

I know I may be a bit biased..but I think she is the sweetest gal around. She has such a love for people and such wonderful compassion.

So, hopefully we will get this uploading picture problem fixed soon...

Today, we got out Lydia's big girl potty. When we came home from running errands, I placed her big girl potty in the bathroom. I asked her if she had to go potty and she nodded.

So, we sat her down. Waited....waited...waited....and waited...we held hands..we sang songs...and then all of a sudden....she did it!

Honestly, I don't think she knew what she did. When she stood up and saw what was in the bowl..she was really surprised and I clapped and rejoiced! Then she got scared. She wasn't sure what that liquid was in the bowl or how it got there......

Hopefully this will be a start to some interest in the "big girl" potty.

We have been working really hard on how to spell her name. She is doing quite well! She even knows other letters of the alphabet!

Also....we have been teaching her about the Body and Blood of Jesus. Yesterday, we were passing out some french bread and she pointed to the bread and said, "Jesus!" Awesome!!

It is a beautiful day today...the weather was just perfect. Lydia and I ran some errands first, then we headed to downtown La Grange to walk in the historic district. We stopped by some shops and looked at some really cool Derby hats. Then we stopped by the Italian deli in La Grange. Love that place. If you are ever in the area..check it out...Delizie Italiane is the place. The ladies there are just super sweet..not to mention the food is crazy good!!! They always make us feel right at home.

Hopefully we will grill out some chicken tonight and have some good family time.

This weekend our church will have their Spring Resurrection Feast. All are welcome. It's from 11-6..lots of food, child/family games, and lots of fun! It looks like the weather is going to be great! :o)

We had the best time at the Zoo. It was pretty cold, but we were all bundled up and enjoyed it! Thanks to Erin and Brenda for getting us in! Lydia loved it. Work Day Today

Good morning friends and family! Today, our family will be outside all day working on our landscape. This task has been put on the backburner for a while now..finally we get a good day with lots of sunshine and no rain!!!

Yesterday, we went and bought a bunch of herbs and will be planting those in planters inside until it is safe to plant in our garden. We will be putting in a new mailbox (which I know our mail-lady will be very pleased with--our current mailbox is shameful!!), raking out our old mulch (putting in new mulch this week), pulling weeds, laying some anti-weed material (preparing for our new mulch), pulling out some nasty bushes we have in our back yard, getting our plot ready for our garden...just to name a few items!! :o)

I will be taking some pictures of Lydia helping us with all this...she loves to help!! Speaking of Lydia...do you believe she will be 2 years old next week????

What a great day. The weather was just beautiful. High in the 70's. Lydia loves to go outside, so I took advantage of this brief Kodak moment. Today it is raining and in the 60's--still absolutely beautiful. This week, we will be purchasing Lydia a rain coat and a pair of rain boots--so we can go jump in the puddles--supposed to rain all week!

Since today is a feast day, (since we have been in Lenten Season--we have given up meat (except fish), sweets, and coffee) we are going to be eating good!! On today's menu, I will be fixing Guinness-marinated London Broil with Rosemary and Garlic, Mushroom Guinness Gravy, and Rustic Colcannon. Yummy!! I can't wait!!

On another note, John and I watched a movie yesterday (I know..amazing, huh?) It's called Fireproof. We had heard from some folks that it was really good. Now, in the beginning of the movie, it is a bit cheesy, and long winded; however, PLEASE stick with it. It is a great movie with a wonderful message. It reminded me of how good God has been to John and I in our own marriage. I highly recommend it.

And finally, some dear friends of ours gave Lydia a play kitchen. It was their daughter's and she has outgrown it. We cleaned it up and she loves it!! We placed it in our kitchen so when Momma cooks, Lydia cooks. I love that too!! My little Chef Lydia! Here are some pictures we took yesterday of her playing. Seriously, she is too cute!

Finally...I think..I think...we are feeling better. Ugh...it has been the l-o-n-g-e-s-t 3 weeks ever! Lydia still has a cough, but it is slowly getting better. I thought I was doing well until I had a visit from the stomach flu a couple of days ago. Seriously, I am done! John is doing much better thankfully...it's hard for him to work when he feels like doo-do-ca-caa.

So, thank you for your prayers!

We are also in the Lenten season. Our church follows the church calendar and I am so glad. Needless to say, we are SO thankful that Sunday's are FEAST days!! It really makes you appreciate the Lord's Day...and know that it is the most special day of the week. :)

We had a very short trip to Gatlinburg to hang out with my dad, step-mom, brother and his family. Lydia had the worst runny nose before we left. We had to leave our Gatlinburg getaway early because both Lydia and I had fevers. Lydia's fever would not break and finally we got her to the doctor on Monday. Lydia has an ear infection with a really bad cough. I have the flu. John isn't himself either...we are just a mess.

Pray for us. I am going chill for bit to regain some of my strength before Lydia wakes up from her nap.....have a good one...

Sorry it has been so long since our last post. It's been crazy around here and our poor Lydia has got some sinus stuff going on. This is her second time having it this month. The first time, she actually had an infection and we were not able to go to the Chinese New Year Celebration. We also had a very sick cat! So, needless to say...we are ready for everyone to get well.

We will post more next week....Our 14th Wedding Anniversary is tomorrow!!! Yea!!

Momma painted her fingernails (um..for the first time in a L-O-N-G while!) and it was the first thing she noticed about me when she woke up from her nap yesterday. After she noticed it, she would point to her thumb nail...I guess she wanted her fingernails painted too!

So today, I thought I would "wing it" and try to paint her fingernails. She LOVED it. She was still the whole time! I couldn't believe it! They turned out so nice. I painted her thumb nail--the thumb she typically sucks on...then I thought...I better not..so she has no paint on that thumb nail. She doesn't seem to mind one bit!

This weekend, we are going to a big Chinese New Year Celebration through the FCC (Families with Children from China) and we are dressing her all up in her pink Chinese dress and matching shoes. Her nails will totally match her dress...I know...like she really cares! :) We have also been practicing Chinese language. She knows how to say "thank-you" and "hello"! It's a start!

Right now, I am letting her feed herself some yummy lasagna and as you probably guessed it..it is everywhere! Gotta go..duty calls!

Last week was somewhat stressful for our family. With no power, lots of snow and ice, trying to dig ourselves out of our driveway, messed up schedules....etc....

However, Friday night my sweet husband came home with these! I was so surprised! Flowers just make me happy...I know...I even shed a tear when he brought them to me. Big surprise for those who know me...

Anyway, aren't they beautiful?

Thanks Baby...you truly are a wonderful man.

Now..if I can just get my cats not to eat them....hmmmmm......

Well...they talked about a snow storm coming...but this was way more crazier than (I think) anyone expected! First came the snow..then the freezing rain (mixed with sleet)...then it snowed again...then we had some more freezing rain...and more snow..It was a mess. I think we got around 6 inches..then about 1 1/2 inches of ice..then this morning it snowed another 2 inches. I have no idea what it did in Louisville, but we got hammered!

We also lost power for a couple of days...and thank the Lord...we got it back. The temp. was dropping quickly and it was getting into the single digits. They were saying that it could take up to mid February to get all power restored. I was hoping that wasn't true. The first day we lost power, we stuck it out through the night to see what would happen. We were all bundled up and it caused us to snuggle lots! The next morning..the temp. in our home wouldn't even register because it was so cold. So, wonderful friends from church invited us to stay with them. We grabbed the cats and the whole gang, and got out of our frozen home.

A funny story.....I took some meat out to thaw the first day we lost power (we were going to attempt to fire up the grill outside---heeehee--yea..right) and forgot about it..until the next morning (the day when we left our home). When I went to pack the meat to take it to our friends house....it was STILL frozen! You know it's bad when..... :)

John had to work out in this crazy weather the entire week. It has been a really exhausting week. We have a lot to do this weekend and I hoping that somewhere in there we will find time to just REST. Boy do we need it.

So, we are thankful to the Lord for His protection and provision over our lives. We are truly grateful for a warm home.

If we get that much, Lydia and I are going outside to play. She is currently terrified of the snow, but I am sure we can break her in! Wish me luck!

Hello gang! I do apologize for not posting to our blog in a while. Life has been busy. I just wanted to say all is well at the Super household. Lydia is eating well, growing like a weed, and has stumbled upon....how to be defiant! :0)

By the way, John preached a great sermon last Sunday. If you are interested in listening to it, please go to our church website on the left hand side of our blog page. I am a very proud wife!

One more thing...
Some people have asked.....what has been the hardest thing that I have come across since Lydia has been home...

I will confess the biggest adjustment for me (really for John and I) has been the relationship between my husband and I. I would be lying if I said that it has been easy. This has been the hardest. My husband and I are best friends and learning how adjust has been difficult. Emotionally for me...it has been way difficult. We are finding out what works and learning as we go...thank the Lord for His abundant grace.

As you can tell...we are Ohio State Fans. We went into this game thinking we were going to be demolished. However, Ohio State did show up and played an awesome game. I think it was the best Ohio State has played in a bowl game in a long time. I also think they earned some respect back that they had lost throughout the season.

All in all it was a great game.

Do you believe that it has been one month since we have been home? Do you believe next week is Christmas??? Do you believe 2009 is quickly upon us? Time does fly when you are having fun! It seems like yesterday that we received Lydia's referral. Do you believe that was 3 months ago??

INSANE!

Today we went to the Social Security Office to apply for Lydia's Social Security Card. Let me just say that it wasn't a pleasant experience. I will leave it at that. All in all, we accomplished what we wanted to do while we were there. :) Unfortunately, that was pretty much all we were able to do while we were out...it was lunch and naptime for Lydia.

I also want to give a shout out to my precious husband. He is such an amazing man. I love him dearly.

Thank you Lord Jesus for placing him in my life.

Attachment Issues Update

Well....John and I have made a decision on what the doctor stated about our situation. John and I, with Lydia's best interest, will follow doctor's orders.

Let me explain a bit further why our doctor has come to this conclusion......

While Lydia was in the orphanage, she did not attach to any of the caregivers. We could tell that when we first received her in our arms. Lydia did not cry when she was taken out of the caregiver's arms and given to us. This is the first indication of unhealthy attachment. Then, afterwards, Lydia would go to anyone. If the person held out their arms to her or even was in her reach....she would leave one of us and go to that person..with no regard to either her Momma or BaBa.

Let's look at it this way...when a person holds Lydia (other than us) they are acting as her "caregiver" (much like it was in the orphanage), and in that, she starts to build trust in that person. Taking away the very trust that she needs to be building in us. Lydia does not know the difference from "Tom, Dick, or Harry, Mom, Dad, or whoever" (so to speak). If you are holding her or meeting her needs..you are acting as a caregiver and we cannot risk this anymore.

Lydia has not learned that family is special (the three of us). She needs to learn that if we want her to have a healthy bonding/attachment to us. If she does not know this at an early age, it will be detrimental to her growth as a young lady and even in her adult years. We certainly do not want this (we have seen examples)...we want what is best for her.

We have talked with many other adoptive families and friends who state to just "listen to your doctor". Her doctor is an adoption specialist, has 3 children adopted from China and knows what she is talking about. I trust her. Why else would I drive all the way to Cincinnati to see her.

This is how we will do things for the next 5 months....
>When playing with other children: we will either hold her or she will sit on our lap while she interacts with other children
>When with family or friends: we will hold her while she interacts with others
>We will not allow anyone other than ourselves to: feed her, pick her up, comfort her, wake her up, put her down to sleep, change her, or any other circumstance where she has a need

I know that this may sound ridiculous, but we will do whatever it takes to help Lydia. We love her and we have a responsibility from the Lord to take care of her . We are accountable for her.

We hope and pray that those who are upset with this would prayerfully consider Lydia and what her needs are right now.

Yesterday, I took Lydia for her first doctors appointment in Cincinnati, Ohio. Needless to say, I thought it was just going to be an evaluation. Well, I was so wrong. 6 shots later...and lab work done...my sweet girl was ready to go home!

It was probably the hardest thing to watch. To see my daughter totally freak out like that was so heartbreaking!

Tomorrow, I have to drive to Northern Kentucky for her doctor to check her TB test..then on Monday...I am back in Cincinnati to deliver "samples" that we have had to collect over the weekend.

Poor girl..considering the circumstances..she did very well.

One more thing.....her doctor is concerned about her attachment to us. Reason being..because she goes to just about anyone (but still comes back to us-which she states is a good start with healthy attachment). She stated that for the next 5 months that no one else should be able to hold her or provide for any of Lydia's needs. We are uncertain about this. I have read and researched this..most adoption circles will state this. However, we will be speaking to other families that have adopted from China who have a Christian worldview. We certainly want what is best for Lydia..so whatever we need to do..we will do.

Pray for us that we will have wisdom regarding this situation..also that if we do need to do this..that our friends and family will respect our decision.

Today we celebrate one month as a family of three. It is so hard to believe that it has already been one month! I feel like it has been quite a bit longer than that. When we think about how far she has progressed..just in one month...we are amazed! She is doing so well. Trust me, we have our days....good and not so good..but all in all...its been pretty stinkin' good! :)

We are truly grateful to our God and King. This season just brings a smile to my face. Even more so this year when we reflect on God's goodness and His provision.

Today was a busy day. We went to Wal-Mart to find some gloves (we lost our previous pair) and a winter coat. Then we headed off to see our friends at Prospect Latin School. Lydia had so much fun playing on the "castle" and she even had to go up and down some stairs. I think that may have been the first time for stairs. She did okay going up the stairs, but we really need to practice going down the stairs. The kids in my old class loved her. Especially the boys! They were sweet to share with her and show her some games. They were also excited to show Lydia their Christmas tree and some neat books. Thank you PLS for such a fun trip!

After our fun time at PLS, we headed home for lunch. For some odd reason, I was craving a Quarter Pounder from McDonald's. I have no idea why. We hardly ever eat any fast food. Oh, well! I thought, I am going to try getting her a Happy Meal and see if she will eat the food. Well, the chicken nuggets were pretty nasty...but I put a bunch of ketchup in her box and gave her a french fry. She loved the ketchup! She kept on sucking the ketchup off the fry! It was too cute. I am not sure if she liked the french fries or not. Either way...it was a fun experience.

Then, after naptime, our friend Vanessa came over and brought a yummy pizza for dinner and hung out with Lydia and I. We had fun, talking about China, sharing our China video, and a bunch more! Lydia liked giving (we like to call her Auntie Nessa) her hugs!

When all was said and done...Baba came home and Lydia was so happy! We miss him during the day! Lydia finally went to sleep around 9:45pm. She was exhausted.

Tomorrow is a stay at home day. Did I say that I love being a mom??????

I apologize for not posting until now. Life has been a lot busier around the Super household! :)

Tomorrow John's parents are coming in from Ohio for our Thanksgiving meal and on Sunday, Lydia gets baptized! We are so excited! Lydia has been doing so well. We thank the Lord for His abundant grace and mercy towards us! It has been challenging..but so good! We truly have much to be thankful for...truly.

All who are local and would like to come to Lydia's baptism, it will be this Sunday (11/30) at our church. The address, time of service is located on their site...which is posted on our blog homepage. All are welcome! Hope to see you there...it will be a very special day.

Today was an awesome day! We didn't get much sleep last night, but that is okay. Little Lydia is still trying to get on EST. :)

We just had a wonderful day. Lydia tried eggs and actually liked them! She also had some organic apple cinnamon oatmeal and loved it too.

Later in the day, we stopped by our favorite Italian deli to pick up some yummy Italian food. John and I were totally craving it! We stopped by the bank and said hello to everyone, then stopped by the Pastor's home for a quick visit. Lydia was having too much fun! On our way home she fell asleep..too cute!

When we got home to eat, Lydia woke up and was ready for some grub. We had some Italian soup for Lydia...she LOVED it! Then she had some leftover mashed potatoes and corn...couldn't stop eating it. I then put the bowl of mashed potatoes and corn on her highchair with her spoon. I was teaching her to feed herself. After several tries...she was doing it herself...she was a pro!

She is adjusting so quickly. Much quicker than we expected!

Baba and Momma are getting along fine...we love being parents!

What can I say?

Ahhhh...we are home. Thank the Lord for getting us home safely. Lydia did such a wonderful job. She actually did much better than John and I did on all 3 flights! She is such a trooper. She was just clapping her hands on the plane, playing and just being so sweet. The airline had headphones where you can listen to various stations or watch movies. I selected some really nice classical music for her and put the headphones on her head. She LOVED it! Check her out!

Today was a good day. John and I still feel like we are on the plane. We are all just so exhausted. Lydia has done very well today. We tried some mashed potatoes and corn. Not too happy about the corn, but pretty darn happy about the potatoes. We also tried apple juice...um...not so much for that either. I know that all this will come in time.

She slept well last night. Only waking up a couple of times. On the other hand, John and I were up at 4 am...still on China time..Lydia is too..poor thing. Here are some pictures from our day.

Well...Lydia finally fell asleep and we are now giving our luggage to the bellboy. Tomorrow morning we leave the White Swan Hotel at 5:30 am. We are SO ready to come home. Today was an amazing day. We went to the Consulate and had our swearing ceremony. It was pretty sweet.

Lydia tried broccoli, said her first words; Momma and Baba (and Dadda), and laughed, danced, clapped her hands, and melted our hearts. We had several sweet moments today. What a great last day in China. Tonight we all got together at our favorite restaurant Lucy's. We all had a great time.

So...we are just finishing up and getting ready to chill before bed.

I guess we will see you all (Lord willing) tomorrow at 6:23pm at the Louisville airport. NW #1884.

Today we went shopping in the district. It was pretty fun. Lydia is just doing great. We are falling in love with her more and more each day. She seems to be doing pretty well with Baba too. She still doesn't like to try new foods, but I am not going to stress out about that. We haven't even had her for a week yet!

We only have two more days here. It is a bittersweet thing. We really like Guangzhou....I mean we really like it! But...we are totally ready to get back home.

Thanks to all of you who helped us get here. We are forever grateful.

Tomorrow we are going on a city tour and we are also going to a Buddist Temple...this should be interesting........
